Supplied to Hoffman, USA; sold to Tage Hansen, Boston; May 1956, Cumberland, Hansgen,1st; raced so successtully by Walt Hansgen that he was invited to join the Cunningham team, which he had regularly beaten; November, venue unknown, Harold Erb, 3rd; May 1957, Cumberland, H. Carter, 9th; March 1958 advertised for sale by Auto Engineering, Lexington, 'Walt Hansgen undefeated in this car', $7000; sold to Thomas Rutherford (Massachusetts); 1959 car modified with 3.8 engine, 2.53 axle, disc-type wheels & exhaust exiting at rear; Utah Salt Flats, car achieved speed of 185.47mph, the highest officially recorded by a D-type; 1970s owned by George Boyd; suffered tornado damage to front & rear when building collapsed; sold to Walter Hill; 1980 restoration completed; owner states car to be in good running condition restored to the Bonneville form; Walter Hill (Florida, USA).
