Sold new to Swedish Jaguar distributor Oscar Swahn. Leased to Curt Lincoln who used it in various races. In 1955 he finished 1st (1.OA) in Sportscar class over 2000cc in Eläintarhanajot (Djurgårdsloppet) in Helsinki Finland, 2nd was a Swedish Ferrari 250MM, 3rd MB 300SL also from Sweden. At the same race he came 2nd (2.OA) behind Michael Head (GB) in a D-type.

It was inevitable that with just 53 C-Types being manufactured there would be an enormous shortfall in the demand for such cars. Consequently this immortal design has been the subject of a myriad of attempts to copy it and this is just one such example.

The car on offer is a rare beast indeed and is probably the closest you can buy short of an original C-Type with its stratospheric prices. According to the previous owner who commissioned the assembly of the car, he purchased a chassis and an original 3.4 Litre engine block from the Beaulieu Autojumble in 1999.

To match the chassis with the engine, the car has then been given the chassis number XKC044 and as such has been identified in the German registration documents as well as in the 2005 FIA papers.
A new aluminium body was commissioned and the work carried out by Shape Craft engineering on an original C-Type jig. The rebuild and restoration was carried out by German specialists Classic Garage of Diessen, Bavaria from 2000 to 2005 and the car was subsequently road registered with Historic papers in Germany and received a FIA Pass in 2005/2006. Testament to the workmanship of its builders, XKC044 has never missed a beat despite numerous outings on such exclusive events as the Donau Classic 2006, the Alpen Classic 2007, the Edelweiss Classic 2009, Nuvolari 2010 and has already been accepted for the Ennstal Classic this year. Neither accidents nor any technical issues have been reported.
Well known in Jaguar circles, this car is often referred to as the "parallel" car due to the exact specification and large numbers of original parts used. Not to be confused with lesser offerings.

Dieser Wagen ist von einer dem Original in nur wenigen Punkten nachstehenden Authenzität. Correcting my own entry, the second owner, Arne Fredlund, was the son if Swedish distributor Åke Fredlund, thus some confusion there, but the early history is otherwise pretty clear. The car finished 1st overall in one class and 2nd (after Michael Head in XKD406) in another class in another start in May 1955. After that the car was no longer seen in Finland!

The next year, 1956 May 10th XKC044 raced again in Eläintarhanajot (Djurgårdsloppet) in Helsinki, Finland and was 4th OA driven by Väinö MIettinen. The car also participated in an ice race in Porvoo (Borgå) Finland on March 17th 1957, where XKD530 driven by Curt Lincoln won a class of "Sports cars with spiked tires" but we do not know the class nor the result for XKC044 in that race. Some photos survive. Apparently the car then returned to Sweden, and had all the time been registered in Sweden. It had been entered into the 1957 Eläintarhanajot race in Helsinki by driver Holger Laine, but it did not take part in qualification and was not seen in that race at all.

A very special C-TYPE which has been restored and built with original Jaguar C-TYPE engine and chassis parts. This car has chassis number XKC 044. It was built up in Germany by specialists Classic Garage in Diessen during the years 2000 - 2005. A chassis part with documentation from XKC 044 and an original engine block was purchased from the Beaulieu Autojumble in 1999. However, this car has been approved by German and Norwegian registration authorities as a 1953 Jaguar XK 120 C with chassis number 044 and first registration date 01.07.1953.
The car has Historic Technical Passport, confirming correct specifications and all official documentation confirms the vehicle identity as XKC 044.
With FIA papers and participation in several classic car races, this car is a unique opportunity.

To clear up any misinformation: XKC 044 was in my care for many years and participated on our annual C & D Type Tour each year it was with me. Since it left my care in AZ. it has been stored in NZ and has been owned by the same Australian collector since 1996. I have attached photos I took of the car while it was here with me. Any other car making claim to this identity needs to provide documentation or, as Terry McGrath says, it is a fake.
