Car began as XKD 562 which was converted as one of the XKSS cars, painted cream and sent to USA (thought to be California). It wound up in Cuba (as did XKSS 766) and both were brought back to the UK by Colin Crabbe around 1987. He also brought the remains of XKD 521 back and had all three resored at Bourne (the old BRM works) according to Jaguar Quarterly Vol 4:#1 (Autumn 1991)

My Dad owned this car in Cuba between about 1962 and late 1966 when we left. He'd blown the engine and replaced it with the one from his 1959 Austin Healey 3000, which is likely what was still in it when Crabbe bought it. It was repainted red in Cuba. I have pictures circa 1964.

I have answered my own question. The photos were put up on Facebook by Charles-Henry Couvrat who stated it was 1987 (not 1967) in Cuba.
