This is a very rare 1955 "D"-Type Jaguar Racing car Service Handbook PLUS a 3 page Paper presented at the Dayton Section of the Society of Automotive Engineers on October 21, 1956 entitled 'The History of Jaguar Cars Ltd. and the Development of the XK engine and D-Type Racing Car" by C. G. Benett, Vice-President of Jaguar Cars, Inc. PLUS a Letter from Jaguar Cars North American Corporation to the Jaguar Midwest Distributors, Inc. in Indianapolis, written April 25, 1956, transmitting instructions relative to Jaguar Type "D" - Chassis XKD-560, specifically relating to certain modifications of the subject car transmission to be carried out as soon as possible in the interest of reliability and signed by R. Graham Reid, General Service Manager U.S.A. Said instructions are attached.
The Service Handbook is in very good condition with minor soiling on a few pages, but nothing to effect the readability. The Handbook is filled with technical specifications, service instructions and illustrations. A General Index in the front of the Handbook guides you to the many service sections relating to the subject. An Index to Sections includes: Operating Instructions, Maintenance, Engine, Carburettors (sic) and Fuel System, Cooling system, Clutch, Gearbox, Rear Axle, Steering, Front Suspension, Rear suspension, Brakes, Body, Electrical, Miscellaneous and Special Service Tools.
This Service Handbook is a great source of information on the World Famous, LeMans winning cars from the fabulous Jaguar Cars, Ltd. of Coventry, England.

One would be advised to read "Jaguar C-Type, D-Type, and Lightweight E-Type" By Terry Larson and others for information on this car. It is not as dispatched from the factory and has went through some major modifications.
