I was the owner of XKD554 from 1962 through 1965. Purchased car from Jim Fouch & Herm Schlieske in California. Shipped to Ohio by train. The car was BRG in racing livery when I bought it. During restoration, the car was painted a metallic red.

I owned XKD554 many years ago, and sold it for practically nothing in 1965. I believe I was the third owner, having bought it sight-unseen while I was in Thule Greenland. I understand that the car is now back in England.

Tom McCrea - could you get me a contact with John North? I'd like to see if I can get a current photo or two of the car. My email is: gene@bwcinet.com. Thanks, Gene

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
