    Extremely rare D Type Jaguar, ex. Ecurie Ecosse. The D Type is the most successfull Jaguar race car of the fifties, and allowed Jaguar to win 3 times in a row the famous 24 hours of Le Mans race between 1955 and 1957. The Type D is a genuine race car that has been developped to win Le Mans, which it did successfully. Based on the C Type, the D type was a much different car that had much improved handling at high speed, better brakes, and that was much faster (with a max speed of nearly 290 Km/h).

    The car we are proud to offer is a genuine D Type Jaguar from the famous Ecurie Ecosse. This very well known team used to race several D Type, including the winning car of the 1956 24 hours of Le Mans. Even if the D Type was developped to win Le Mans, it happened to be very successfull on many other tracks. This classic blue metallic with white nose livery D Type won the Spa Francorchamp and Silverstone race in 1956, and did a 4th place at the 1956 Reims race. It also entered the 1958 24 hours of Le Mans but did not finish.

    The history of this car is crystal clear and documented from the first delivery of the car. It is a genuine race car whose prevenance and history are indisputable. As many of the race cars of this era, it has received many improvements during its carrier, and all of these are very well known.

    The car used to live at Le Mans but has been sold on and now is racing again, sadly getting a bit bent at the Revival. I am pleased though to see it out and about again. I have here in my office one of the original bonnet hinges! Wearing the long nose body it has had from 1959, I believe the plan is to put it back in short nose form as it left the factory. I could be wrong though.
