Listed in very short JCNA Jaguar Journal artilce as being one of the 12 lightweight E-Types made and one of four to show up for a reunion at Lynx Motors International in 2000. This car is listed as being the "Phil Scragg car"

BTW, the lightweight serial numbers are actaully prefixed with a 'S" so for instance this one should actually be listed as S850669

Text:
1963 Jaguar E - Type Lightweight I.D.#:S850669 Eng. # RA1355-9 Body #:R5870 Reg. #:PS1175 Purchased new from the factory in January 1964 by Phil Scragg who did serious competition with this car winning many First Places, and it became a favorite with British crowds. Many of his First Places with this car are recorded in Philip Porter’s book “Jaguar E type, the definitive history”. Previous owners of S850669 Reg.PS1175 race car: 1963 - 1967 -Phil Scragg 1967 - 1970 -Anthony Hopkins (well known broadcaster and musician) Hopkins registered car at the time “4RH”. 1970 - Car passed through noted dealer Brian Classic to Bob Vincent, a noted successful driver of Lightweight E’s for the Red Rose Racing team with Richard Bond, and perhaps Brian Redman. Gordon Brown (4WPD) remembers making the trip to collect the car with him. 1971 - 1974 -Michael Dawes - It was Dawes who painted the car the dark metallic silver. In every other way the car remained just as Scragg and Hopkins had run it. Days is the older brother of now dealer and enthusiast, Nigel Dawes. 1974 Michael Dawes sold the car back to Brian Classic 1974 Brian Classic sold to racer/dealers Mike Fisher then to Chris Drake 1975 - 1995 Yoshijuki Hayashi, Japan who included the car in his excellent collection for years. 1995 Peter Rae, Britain re-imported the car and revived the original registration PS1175. Car had a careful check and mechanical overhaul to drive in the Mulberry Challenge at Goodwood Festival of Speed, recoding a 64 second time on the hill. The reappearance of the “time warp” created huge interest and admiration after being away from the public for so long.

This car is mentioned in "The Jaguar E-type a collectors guide" by Paul Skilleter on page 75.
All of the factory competition cars have a "S" prefix this car's number is actually S850669. The car was delivered to Scragg Jan 31, '64.

The car is also mentioned in Porters E-tpye the definitive history, pg 323. It was registered as PS 1175 and sold to Phil Scragg.

I received this comment and am reposting it by permission: "I knew Phil Scragg through my Father, with whom he had a long business relationship, as well as being good friends, and have a photograph of the car on Prescott start line, taken I believe, in September 1964. It started life in Off white with a black top.

"After the Prescott meeting in May of that year, the first time I saw it, we all went for a meal, and on the way Phil overtook a line of cars we were in at great speed, with his wife aboard, and our car a 3 Litre Rover, rocked as he passed us! I recall him expressing frustration at it having to be regularly returned to the factory, because it repeatedly sprung oil leaks after competing with it. At the May Prescott meeting, Roger Mac was there in an E Type and Phil picked up that he had inflated his tyres to 60psi, so he did the same, in case there was a competitive advantage! Phil was still quickest, but not by his usual margin. I could send you a copy of the photograph if you're interested. I have many happy memories associated with that car and those times!

I'm looking for history on another Hopkins car that we believe Scragg drove before S850669.
850203 is a 61 roadster with hardtop. It's noted on page 284 of Porters 'Definitive book' as being driven at Goodwood. Wonder if anyone has any info on it.
Regards Tim

PS1175 (Chassis S850669) was registered by Antony Hopkins (The 2nd owner) as AH600 there are two nice images of it with Hopkins on the Northern Jaguar website - AH600 now resides on Antony Hopkins first car, the one he had before the lightweight chassis 850203 a 61 roadster that Hopkins raced in 62/63 and was recently restored by Mark Snowden of Northern Jaguar. see: www.northernjaguar.com/project-ah600.html
